About 2DII. 2DII is a think-tank specialized in sustainable finance. Our mission is to promote the integration of climate constraints in financial institution’s investment strategies and financial regulation. We focus on first-hand research, policy analysis, data analysis, and the development of new tools. 10 years in the making, we benefit from an international reputation and a track record of influential research projects and impact on public policies. Many of the core concepts we devised have now been integrated into market practices and placed on the regulatory agenda in the EU and beyond.
Leading research.2DII led several EU-funded projects designed to develop both publicly available and IP-rights free 2°C scenario tools for financial portfolios (SEI metrics), risk management tools (ET Risk), target-setting (InvECAT) as well as to better understand retail investors preferences (Level EEI).
Global partnerships with the financial industry.2DII has partnered with over 600 financial institutions on scenario analysis for equity and/or corporate bonds portfolios, three financial supervisory authorities, and two governments on supporting 2°C scenario analysis among financial institutions.
Scenario analysis initiatives.2DII has also led a range of research projects on providing the ‘inputs’ into financial institutions 2°C scenario analyses. 2DII is a founding partner of the Asset Data Initiative (ADI). 2DII also participated in the FSB TCFD scenario working group. 2DII has contributed to the International Energy Agency World Energy Investment Outlook (2014), the IEA Investment report (2016), and the IEA Energy Efficiency Market Report (forthcoming, 2017). We are also co-chairing the ISO 14097 working group on setting science-based targets together with the UNFCCC Secretariat.
Independent research.2DII has a multi-stakeholder and independent governance framework designed to ensure the intellectual integrity of its work and its independence. Thanks to its non-advocacy position and technical emphasis, it enjoys the trust and confidence of central banks, insurance companies, banks, and pension funds.
