Measuring the alignment of Norway’s financial sector with the Paris Agreement

In 2021, 2° Investing Initiative worked with the Norwegian Ministry of Finance and the Ministry of Climate and Environment to measure the Norwegian financial sector's alignment with climate benchmarks.

Now that the alignment assessment is complete, we will present the key results during a webinar on January 26th from 10-11am CET. The national-level alignment results will also be published on the same day. This is the latest edition in the PACTA Coordinated Projects, in which 2DII works with governments, supervisors, and industry associations to assess national financial sector alignment with climate goals.

Agenda:

  1. Welcome from Ministry representatives
  2. Introduction of 2° Investing Initiative and PACTA (Maarten Vleeschhouwer, Head of PACTA)
  3. Assessment of the alignment of the Norwegian financial sector with the Paris Agreement  (Catarina Braga, Project Leader)
  4. Q&A

2DII today announced it is transferring stewardship of the Paris Agreement Capital Transition Assessment (PACTA) to RMI, formerly Rocky Mountain Institute. PACTA measures financial portfolios' alignment with various climate scenarios, including those consistent with the Paris Agreement. Under RMI’s stewardship, PACTA will remain a free, independent, open-source methodology and tool, and will continue to provide the financial and supervisory community with forward-looking, science-based scenario analysis to help users make climate-aligned financing decisions. RMI will invest in scaling up PACTA’s usability and applicability in day-to-day investment decisions as well as reporting requirements.
