These elections will see 720 members elected to the European Parliament and while turnout for these elections has rarely reached the 50% threshold, key indicators are showing growing interest in voting. For example, the last elections in 2019 saw the 50% participation threshold surpassed (50.66%) for the first time since 1994[1] which is encouraging for this year’s elections, especially in the youth generation.
Topics such as climate change and nature are at the forefront of the 2024 elections. We strongly encourage voters to vote during these European elections.
For French electors, ChangeNow recently hosted a debate between candidates to the European elections around the topic of ecological transition. This was the first time that a debate was solely dedicated to this subject which highlights the growing importance of the ecological transition in the upcoming elections. The replay link is available here if you want to learn more about each party’s perspective on key environmental topics.
