We are seeking our future Scientific Advisor to help us conducting research on sustainable finance. This position requires a PhD in a field related to sustainable finance, the economy of tomorrow, or energy with a significant finance component. Ideally, prior experience, such as a company internship, is advantageous. A keen awareness of climate change challenges and the transition to a low-carbon economy is essential.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Conducting personal research in sustainable finance with the goal of publishing in scientific journals. (30% of your time).
  • Working in collaboration with a scientific committee composed of academic researchers and experts in sustainable finance (think tanks, NGOs, private sector stakeholders, etc.) (30% of your time).
  • Carrying out analyses, studies and research for 2DII (30% of your time).
  • Representing 2DII at conferences, working groups and scientific and technical platforms.

Essential Skills and Qualifications:

  • Level of studies: Level 8 – (Doctorate)
  • Knowledge of sustainable finance: labels, ecosystem, regulatory framework, good knowledge of carbon (29LEC, SFDR, Taxonomy, etc.)
  • Knowledge of academic literature on the subjects of sustainable finance/economics
  • Knowledge of energy issues
  • Knowledge of the causes and consequences of climate change and planetary limits
  • Experience of ESG criteria and practices is a plus
  • Excellent writing and interpersonal skills
  • Proficiency in Excel and Powerpoint required
  • English – spoken and written
  • Dynamic and motivated, even passionate?
  • Responsive and adaptable
  • Self-starter with a taste for challenge and initiative
  • Curiosity and open-mindedness

2DII today announced it is transferring stewardship of the Paris Agreement Capital Transition Assessment (PACTA) to RMI, formerly Rocky Mountain Institute. PACTA measures financial portfolios' alignment with various climate scenarios, including those consistent with the Paris Agreement. Under RMI’s stewardship, PACTA will remain a free, independent, open-source methodology and tool, and will continue to provide the financial and supervisory community with forward-looking, science-based scenario analysis to help users make climate-aligned financing decisions. RMI will invest in scaling up PACTA’s usability and applicability in day-to-day investment decisions as well as reporting requirements.
