Job Description

We are recruiting for the new position of Managing Director of 2DII Germany, to oversee day-to-day project management, finance and operations matters; steer the strategic development of the organization; as well as play a key role in the leadership committee. This job is an opportunity to lead one of the largest financial sector think tanks in the world and guide its operational and strategic resilience and growth.

In this role, you will work closely with the research program heads, project managers, and other staff to ensure project progress and make sure that grant objectives are met. Your role involves facilitating an organization-wide process that drives impact and overseeing the coordination of research stream strategies and implementation plans.

You will lead the admin & operations team to create standardized systems and processes and help the team implement these processes. On the operations and finance side, you will oversee recruitment, the management of employment contracts, as well as monitoring ongoing expenditures and proper processing of invoices, together with a dedicated office manager. Working with 2DII’s advisors and board of directors, you will also be responsible for the fulfillment of organizational obligations to funders, regular reporting to the Board of Directors, and the handling of legal matters.

The 2° Investing Initiative Deutschland e.V. is a global, non-profit and independent think tank tank working to align financial markets and regulations with the Paris Agreement goals. Our research focuses on improving transparency for retail investors, devising new methodologies to measure the impact of financial institutions’ climate actions, as well as helping financial institutions and regulators deal with climate risks and other long-term challenges. Our multidisciplinary team engages in various publicly funded research projects in collaboration with governments, financial institutions, regulators, and other research institutions. Our focus areas range from academic/policy research to software and tool development. With an annual turnover of over €2 million and more than 30 employees, we are currently working to professionalize our operations and administration.

Your main tasks will be:

  • Operational management of the organization and its research activities
  • Coordination of research stream strategies and implementation plans
  • Management of the admin & operations team
  • Controlling, accounting and cash flow management
  • HR administration
  • Management, implementation and enforcement of project management processes
  • Contract management and tasks
  • Coordination with and internal reporting for the Board of Directors

Your profile:

  • Enthusiasm, competence, and perseverance in administrative/operations tasks
  • Experience in a managerial position in administration or controlling, and/or in a project-funded non-profit organization
  • Reliability, attention to detail, and strong work ethic
  • Empathic leadership ability
  • Experience can also be compensated by interest, motivation, and ability to learn
