We are seeking a Head of Research to develop our high-quality research hub on the links between financial investment decision-making and the transition to a low-carbon and nature-friendly economy.
The Head of Research will lead research on topics at the intersection of (political) ecology, finance, and economics, manage small to medium-sized research projects, and participate in the development of new partnerships.
Main Responsibilities:
- Develop the Research Hub’s strategy and contribute to the overall strategy of the association with research proposals.
- Lead the research activities of the association.
- Propose the development of new tools and research and analysis work in line with the association’s overall strategy.
- Monitor external developments, including technological ones, that may influence the activities of the hub; anticipate them and adjust the hub’s activities and organization accordingly.
- Ensure the relevance, rigor, and quality of analysis and research, and define how they are shared to support the association’s objectives.
- Ensure the research team’s understanding of the strategy, adherence to the association’s political positions, and create conditions that foster reflection and participation in strategic discussions by team members.
- Participate in brainstorming sessions / proposal writing related to economic and financial incentives to fund the economy of tomorrow.
- Promote and gain recognition for the association’s work, develop networking at events to establish contacts with European and international partners in the sustainable finance world (platforms, think tanks, universities, regulators, financial institutions).
- Contribute to 2DII’s awareness and communication activities (webinars, conferences…).
- Stay informed of the latest developments in policies and markets in the green finance sector.
Essential Skills and Qualifications:
This position requires:
- A Master’s degree minimum, ideally a PhD in finance or economics.
- A minimum of 3 years of experience in a similar role with a solid background in finance, ideally with good knowledge of the financial sector in France and internationally.
- At least 10 years of total experience in finance/sustainable finance research.
- Large partners network.
- Relevant publications of research papers in the field of sustainable finance.
- Experience participating in working groups within international bodies on sustainable finance-related topics.
- Excellent command of English and French (written and spoken).
- Strong analytical and quantitative skills.
- Knowledge of key concepts in sustainable finance and/or climate economics and/or ecological transition.
- A willingness and ability to work both on research and writing as well as on applied projects and tools.
Desired Skills:
- Organizational skills with the ability to multitask.
- Proficiency in Excel, with a desire to develop cutting-edge research and policy recommendations.
- Strategic thinking.
- Flexibility and willingness to work both in a team and independently.
- Ability to take ownership of projects autonomously.
- Experience in macroeconomic and/or financial modeling.
- Experience within a similar organization is a plus, as well as knowledge of the ecosystem in which our association operates.
