Sirpa Pietikainen

Sirpa is a Finnish Member of the European People’s Party (EPP) in the European Parliament since 2008. She has been Finland’s Minister of Environment from 1991 to 1995. At the European Parliament, Sirpa is Member of the Economic and Monetary Affairs Committee and substitute member of the Environment, Public Health and Food Safety Committee as well as of the Women’s Right and Gender Equality Committee.
In the ECON-committee she has been responsible for legislatives reports on the transparency directive and the non-financial reporting directive. She is especially keen on combining her passion for environmental questions with her knowledge and work on financial services and other economic matters, and has hosted several conferences in the European Parliament relating to, amongst others, sustainable financing, ESG reporting and climate financing. Sirpa hold a M.Sc. in Business from Helsinki School of Economics, where she teaches university courses on negotiations theory and practices.
