Martin Koch joined the European Commission in 2006 and is currently Policy Officer in DG FISMA, Unit C1 ’Capital Markets Union’. Before joining DG FISMA on 1 May 2015, Martin worked for 9 years with DG Research & Innovation in the field of SMEs, Financial Instruments and State Aid.
DG FISMA C1 is leading Commission work on the development and implementation of an effective Capital Markets Union (CMU), with the aim to create a single, integrated capital market in the EU by 2019. Martin’s particular focus in this context is on long-term finance, infrastructure and sustainable investments as well as venture capital. Before joining the European Commission, Martin worked for over a decade with several financial institutions on financing innovative SMEs and risk capital.
Born in 1964, Martin Koch studied Political Science and Economics. He holds a Master degree in Political Science (Public Finance) from the University of Münster, Germany.
